Description
The C2 Air Operations Suite - C2 Info Services program is dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of the Command and Control, Incident Management, Emergency Response Application (C2IMERA) for the Air Force. This initiative seeks to improve installation command and control by integrating data, automating daily operations, and connecting personnel. Its objectives include increasing decision speed and operational advantage through real-time data aggregation and user feedback integration. The system displays this information on an interactive Common Operating Picture (COP), providing automated updates and notifications to streamline communication processes.
In fiscal year 2025, the program will continue supporting Agile DevOps methodologies to deliver advanced features following a transition from a monolithic codebase to a microservices-based application. Key goals include enhancing interoperability and system integrations to automate data workflows by expanding connections to authoritative data sources. Additionally, the program will focus on improving user experience through new UX/UI features within a global federated system architecture. Integration with the joint C2 network is also prioritized, aiming to support seamless collaboration across various command levels.
The acquisition strategy for C2IMERA leverages agile software engineering methodologies and evolutionary acquisition principles. This approach allows for dynamic resource allocation based on current warfighter needs, facilitating continuous software delivery. Program management is directed by PEO Digital at Hanscom AFB, MA, with contracting authority provided by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC). The strategy emphasizes modularizing software solutions and associated contracting processes to reduce timelines and enhance capability delivery.
Looking ahead, the program plans to fully implement multi-tenant capabilities for a globally federated application while expanding data sets for cross-domain data transfer. It will also enhance capabilities in environments with limited bandwidth in support of Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) initiatives. Continued efforts will focus on integrating with external data sharing services and applications like KRADOS to provide near real-time situational awareness through an updated COP. These developments aim to maintain strategic alignment with higher headquarters systems at both installation/base levels and major command levels.
