05 - Modification of inservice aircraft
Description
The C-12 program, managed by the Air Force, focuses on the modification and maintenance of thirty C-12 aircraft, which are commercial equivalents to the Beechcraft Super King Air. These twin turboprop aircraft are primarily used for transporting cargo and passengers over medium distances. The program aims to extend the service life of these aircraft, with some models expected to remain operational until 2052. To achieve this, the program emphasizes implementing service bulletins and low-cost modifications that ensure continued Federal Aviation Administration certification while enhancing flight safety, reliability, and maintainability.
A key objective of the C-12 program is to support emerging modification requirements through Program Management Administration and Advisory & Assistance Services (A&AS). This includes system integration labs, trainers, equipment, and other government costs necessary for maintaining operational readiness. Additionally, the program addresses Diminishing Manufacturing Sources (DMS) issues to ensure a steady supply of necessary components and parts. By focusing on these areas, the program seeks to maintain the operational effectiveness of the C-12 fleet while managing costs efficiently.
These activities are supported within a specific program element. Although no new funding was requested for FY25, previous allocations have supported essential modifications and administrative functions critical to sustaining the fleet's capabilities. The program's strategic approach ensures that the C-12 aircraft remain a reliable asset for medium-distance transport missions within the Air Force's operational framework.
