Armed Overwatch/Targeting

The Armed Overwatch/Targeting program, managed by the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), aims to enhance the capabilities of Special Operations Forces (SOF) through the procurement of deployable and sustainable crewed aircraft systems. These systems are designed to execute Close Air Support, precision strike, and armed reconnaissance missions in both austere and permissive environments. This procurement supports the establishment of the first operational squadron and aims to achieve Initial Operational Capability by the fourth quarter of FY 2026. The program also includes resources for systems engineering, program management, interim contractor support, and training devices such as cockpit familiarization trainers and weapons systems trainers.
