Description
The Anti-Tamper Technology Support program is a critical initiative within the Army's Protective Technologies organization. It serves as the technical center for the Department of Defense's Anti-Tamper program. The primary focus is on preventing the exploitation and reverse engineering of U.S. military systems that may be lost or captured on the battlefield, or sold through Foreign Military Sales or Direct Commercial Sales. Efforts are concentrated on validation and verification activities to ensure robust anti-tamper measures in Army programs. These activities are carried out by the United States Army Futures Command, U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, and the Aviation & Missile Center at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
A key objective is to maintain a core team of subject matter experts who support the development and deployment of Army programs by evaluating their anti-tamper architectures. This involves building and maintaining advanced reverse engineering capabilities to assess vulnerabilities in micro-electronic components used in Army weapon systems. The aim is to protect critical program information by identifying potential weaknesses that could be exploited if these systems were compromised.
The program also focuses on enhancing laboratory facilities and equipment dedicated to anti-tamper and reverse engineering assessments. These facilities play a crucial role in conducting technical evaluations and ensuring that protective measures are effective against emerging threats. Ongoing assessments help refine anti-tamper strategies and technologies, contributing to the security posture of U.S. military assets.
Through its comprehensive approach, the Anti-Tamper Technology Support program seeks to safeguard sensitive technologies throughout their lifecycle—from research and development to implementation and testing. By continuously adapting to new challenges, this initiative supports the mission of protecting U.S. military capabilities from unauthorized access and exploitation, thereby maintaining technological superiority on the global stage.
