Description
The Acquisition Workforce-Advanced Program Technology initiative, managed by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), is designed to equip U.S. and allied forces with operational weapon systems that support military and national security operations. This program focuses on enhancing the capabilities of the acquisition and product support workforce by providing them with necessary management tools, technical skills, and business capabilities. These resources enable effective oversight of acquisition programs throughout their life cycle, supporting all phases including material solution analysis, technology development, engineering and manufacturing development, production and deployment, as well as operations and support.

A key objective is to ensure that the workforce is well-equipped to manage advanced program technology acquisition programs. This involves funding civilian pay for personnel responsible for delivering cutting-edge weapon systems and sustainment capabilities. The program aims to maintain a highly skilled workforce capable of managing complex acquisition processes, ensuring military operations are supported by state-of-the-art technology.

In fiscal year 2024, the program plans to continue supporting the Advanced Program Technology acquisition and product support workforce. However, there is a projected decrease in funding from FY 2024 to FY 2025 due to adjustments in work years (WYs) and average weighted yearly costs (AWYC). Specifically, FY 2025 reflects a reduction in WYs and an adjustment in AWYC, resulting in decreased overall funding requirements.

The program does not include costs for base operating support civilian personnel but focuses on both civilian pay and non-pay support requirements essential for sustaining the acquisition workforce. By investing in these areas, the initiative seeks to ensure that the Air Force's acquisition workforce remains capable of supporting advanced program technologies critical for national defense objectives.
