Description
Theater Air Control System Improvement is a project under the Air Force's Other Procurement budget activity, specifically focusing on Electronics and Telecommunications Equipment. The program aims to modernize the Control and Reporting Center (CRC), a mobile, ground-based theater air control system (TACS) surveillance and battle management command and control (BMC2) element. This includes the modernization of systems such as the Tactical Air Operations Module (TAOM), Communication Data Link System (CDLS), Remote Radio Secure Voice System (RRSVS), and the CRC's organic radar. The objective is to provide direct command and control to all air assets in an assigned Area of Responsibility (AOR) to support air and surface operations. The funding request for FY2024 was reduced by $8.268 million due to prior year execution balances, with phased updates planned through 2037.
The program also supports homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities in accordance with Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110-181). The funding for this exhibit is contained in PE 0207412F. The procurement quantities for FY2024 include 45 units for the Air Force and 4 units for the Air National Guard, with a total obligation authority of $13.986 million. The program's production schedule outlines delivery timelines and procurement lead times for various components, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to enhance the capabilities of the theater air control system.
