Test and Evaluation Support

Test & Evaluation Support falls under the Research, Development, Test & Evaluation Management Support budget activity of the Navy. This program is aimed at providing institutional maintenance and operations support for various test and evaluation activities within the Navy. It supports efforts directed toward sustaining or modernizing installations or operations and maintenance required to support research, development, test and evaluation. The specific objectives include providing core test and evaluation capabilities to obtain weapons system performance documentation for acquisition program milestone decisions and to provide operational forces with effective weapons systems. Additionally, the program aims to lower the cost of test and evaluation, remove cost and scheduling impact of developing their own capabilities, and retain the physical airspace, land space, and sea space needed to conduct testing.

One of the components of Program PE 0605864N is Project 0541: AUTEC (Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center). This project supports the US Navy by providing an underwater range facility for full-spectrum test and evaluation of undersea warfare systems and for fleet training and readiness assessment. The program funds costs that are not chargeable to customers and supports environmental compliance, conservation, and pollution prevention related efforts at the Navy Major Range and Test Facility Base located at various sites. The planned programs include ongoing efforts to comply with federal, state, and local environmental requirements as well as supporting level 1 compliance requirements at Naval Air Systems Command Ranges inclusive of hazardous waste disposal, solid waste disposal, natural & cultural resources programs, maintenance of environmental permits, environmental monitoring, among others.
