Description
Tactical C-E Equipment encompasses a range of objectives aimed at enhancing the Air Force's tactical communication and control capabilities. The program includes the procurement and fielding of various equipment such as the Tactical Airborne Control System Equipment (TACS), Theater-Deployable Communications (TDC), Advanced Communications Systems, and Special Tactics/Combat Control systems. Specific goals include the integration of digitally aided Close Air Support (CAS) kits for real-world training in a simulated environment, procurement of portable devices to address emerging manufacturing and material shortage issues, and the provision of stand-alone communications support for expeditionary and battlefield forces. Additionally, the program aims to enhance command and control capabilities, provide secure voice services, internet access, local area network, and support special missions such as noncombatant evacuation and disaster relief efforts.
Furthermore, the program seeks to modernize Air Support Operations Centers (ASOC-Mod), procure equipment capable of sensing enemy activity within the electromagnetic spectrum, and provide enhanced communication systems for Special Warfare ST operators. The objectives also include reducing the weight of equipment carried by dismounted operators, improving target recognition and designation capabilities during day and night operations, and ensuring effective command and control capabilities/survivability. Additionally, the program aims to support AFSOC Tactical Command and Control (TAC C2) program purchases enhanced communication systems essential for ST combat controllers, pararescue, Special Reconnaissance, and tactical air control parties to perform their mission and communicate Beyond Line of Site (BLOS) with rear echelon C2 to provide a joint operating picture.
