Description
The Standard Missile (SM-6) program aims to provide extended range engagement capability for air superiority and protection of joint U.S. forces and allies against various threats, including manned-fixed and rotary-winged aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and land attack and anti-ship cruise missiles in flight. This program is crucial for the continuous protection of forward deployed ground maneuver forces and theater rear assets. The SM-6 serves as the primary extended range air defense weapon for AEGIS cruisers and destroyers, with potential future applications for other combatants. The budget reflects a funding profile for a proposed Multiyear Procurement beginning in FY 2024 for the SM-6 BLK IA AUR procurement, aiming to provide Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) to reduce costs and enable greater production efficiencies.

The program's specific objectives include the procurement of up to 625 Standard Missile-6 (SM-6) guided missiles through a five-year Multiyear Procurement (MYP) contract, with the use of Advanced Procurement to provide Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) for cost reduction and production efficiency. The funding also covers EOQ in support of the FY 2019-2023 MYP contract, which will fund the procurement of MK72 Booster, MK104 Dual Thrust Rocket Motors (DTRM), and Guidance Sections. Additionally, the budget reflects a funding profile for a proposed Multiyear Procurement beginning FY 2024 for the SM-6 BLK IA AUR procurement, aiming to provide Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) to reduce costs and enable greater production efficiencies. This multiyear contract uses Economic Order Quantity Advance Procurement funding to provide maximum savings in price and enable material and component suppliers and subcontractors with sufficient lead time to support the planned delivery schedule within the context of the multiyear funding.
