SSN Combat Control Systems

SSN Combat Control Systems is a procurement program within the Navy that aims to acquire and install combat control systems for submarine platforms. The program focuses on the AN/BYG-1 combat control system, which provides tactical control, weapon/payload control, and Tactical Local Area Network (TacLAN) functions. The system allows for rapid updates of the ship-safety tactical picture, integrates the common tactical picture into the battlegroup, improves torpedo interfaces, and provides tactical TOMAHAWK and Harpoon capability. Additionally, the program includes efforts to modernize hardware and software through Tech Insertion (TI) kits to address Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) obsolescence and provide capability improvements through software upgrades.

The program also encompasses various related efforts such as Combat Systems Technology Refresh/Legacy Integration, Electronic Charting Display Information System procurement, production engineering and initial training support, SSGN sustaining support, and payload procurement. These efforts involve activities such as correcting fleet-reported problems with fielded AN/BYG-1 software and hardware, procuring infrastructure COTS hardware for faster delivery and installation of developed systems to the warfighter, and acquiring payloads including Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) vehicles for integration, verification, and validation. The program's objectives include ensuring the readiness and modernization of combat control systems across submarine platforms to support naval operations effectively.
