3011F - Procurement of Ammunition, Air Force
Description
Spares And Repair Parts Air Force, aims to fund the procurement of ammunition spares and repair parts for the Air Force. This includes initial spares consisting of repairable components, assemblies, and consumable items required to support newly fielded end items. The program also covers replenishment spares for follow-on sustainment of end items, with munitions replacement spare levels based on item-specific failure/demand driven computations. Examples of spares include Flight Test Telemetry packages, telemetry kits, batteries, fuzes, cables, and electronic components to support and maintain fielded end items. These spares and repair parts are essential for various Air Force end items such as rockets, cartridges, practice bombs, general-purpose bombs, cartridge actuated devices/propellant actuated devices (CAD/PAD), explosive ordnance disposal, flares, and fuzes.
The specific objective of the Program Spares And Repair Parts is to ensure the availability of necessary spares and repair parts for the Procurement of Ammunition, Air Force (PAAF) items. This includes funding for initial spares consisting of repairable components, assemblies, and subassemblies required in support of newly fielded end items based on historical failure/demand data on similar items. Additionally, the program covers replenishment spares consisting of repairable components and assemblies required for follow-on sustainment of end items. The funding also addresses production Diminishing Manufacturing Sources (DMS)/Material Shortages/Obsolescence issues through studies, bridge buys, life of type buys, supplier/parts replacement activities to preserve future production capabilities and capacities. The program ensures that the Air Force maintains appropriate quantities in the War Reserve Material (WRM) Munitions and test and training stockpiles to meet active, guard, and reserve component requirements.
