Description
MC0MSE Spaceborne Equip (Comsec), is a procurement program under the Air Force's Space Force budget activity. The specific goal of this program is to procure centrally-funded cryptographic products to operate in the space environment and for ground nodes that link to space assets. This includes the production of Space Communications Security (COMSEC) products to meet developing and operational space program needs, such as End Crypto Units (ECU), Embedded Solutions (ES), TRANSEC, and ancillaries. Additionally, the program aims to provide logistics support for Space COMSEC products, including specialized test sets, certified training materials, maintenance manuals, provisioning, spare components, and modifications. The funding also supports the procurement of Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (TT&C) and mission data cryptographic products for aerospace vehicle equipment (AVE) and ground operating equipment (GOE) to ensure secure command and control and data transmission for DOD space systems.
Furthermore, the Space Modular Common Cryptography (SMCC) program aims to reduce space programs' development and life cycle costs by providing a common, modular, and upgradable cryptographic solution set. This includes procuring Common Crypto Solutions for Air Force, Space Force, DOD, and Intelligence Community Space Programs. The SMCC Program's mission is to secure communication links and the data transmitted while incorporating standard interfaces that leverage existing technologies and provide a basis for future technologies. The program also aims to design solutions that are scalable, upgradeable, and reconfigurable. Overall, the funding supports the procurement of crypto end items and logistics elements to support developing and operational space systems while meeting NSA-mandated space algorithm transition/modernization guidance.
