Soldier Systems - Warrior Dem/V al under the Army's Research, Development, Test & Evaluation budget activity, aims to support the Small Unit Power (SUP) program, which is a key enabler of the Army Modernization Priorities. The program includes four active projects: Integrated Soldier Power Data System - Core, Universal Battery Charger, Soldier Borne Sensor, and Platoon Power Generator. These projects focus on developing and integrating power and energy solutions for critical Integrated Tactical Network Soldier-worn systems, such as tactical leader radios, Nett Warrior, and the Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS), to address the power and energy gaps created by the increase in mission essential portable power consumers. The program also supports the development of small unmanned aerial vehicles to provide situational understanding and reconnaissance at the Infantry Squad level.

The specific goals of these projects include developing cutting-edge energy storage solutions, power scavenging devices, and vehicular on-the-move charging to enable dismounted Soldiers and squads to execute their missions more efficiently and independently for longer durations. Additionally, the program aims to reduce the logistical burden associated with fuel and primary batteries by providing multiple charging solutions capable of powering handheld communication devices and military-issued batteries. The acquisition strategy involves pursuing a variety of Soldier power products under full and open competition, ranging from Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solutions to developmental efforts. These initiatives will be evaluated through scheduled lab and operational test and evaluation events before being selected for procurement and subsequent fielding and sustainment.
