Soldier Systems - Advanced Development

Soldier Systems - Advanced Development falls under the Army's Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) budget activity and focuses on advancing soldier systems to increase combat effectiveness and improve combat capability. The program aims to manage the Soldier as a system by evaluating, developing, and testing emerging technologies and critical Soldier support systems to reduce technology risk. It aligns with the Army's priorities in support of the National Defense Strategy and is a priority of the Soldier Lethality Cross Functional Team. Specific projects within this program include Integrated Soldier Systems Prototyping, Personnel Airdrop System Development, Clothing And Equipment evaluation, Small Arms Improvement, and Soldier Protective Equipment evaluation.

Integrated Soldier Systems Prototyping (SL CFT) project within PE 0603827A aims to develop and maintain a PEO Soldier Futures Strategy in coordination with the Soldier Lethality Cross Functional Team and all DEVCOM Centers to execute Multi Domain Operations. It provides prototyping capabilities for evaluation and integration, executes evaluation of new measurements and methodologies from the S&T community, executes system level evaluation environments, and supports Soldier system modeling. The funding for this project aligns with the Army's priorities in support of the National Defense Strategy.

The Personnel Airdrop System Development project under PE 0603827A focuses on improving Low Altitude and High Altitude personnel parachutes and associated equipment to enhance the insertion capability and safety of airborne Soldiers. It aims to increase the performance, reliability, and durability of personnel airdrop equipment by integrating new technology. The project also supports cross-service initiatives to improve commonality in equipment across different branches of the military.
