Description
The Precision Strike Weapons Development Program is a research and development initiative within the Navy aimed at advancing precision strike capabilities for anti-surface and land strike operations in challenging environments. The program focuses on developing armament, munitions, and weapon subsystems that enable horizontal integration among current and future weapon systems. It aims to enhance anti-surface and land strike capabilities by developing technologies such as selectable output weapons, low collateral damage weapons, precision lethality weapons, alternative warhead technology, and Insensitive Munitions (IM). Additionally, the program supports the development of advanced aerial refueling stores, digital twin modeling for cartridge actuated devices/propellant actuated devices, and the design and deployment of a Nuclear-Armed Sea-Launched Cruise Missile (SLCM-N).

The program also includes specific projects such as Next Generation Strike Weapons (NGSW), Air-launched electronic warfare (EW) systems capability through the integration of a Navy variant of the Miniature Air Launched Decoy (MALD), Advanced Aerial Refueling Store (AARS), Cartridge Actuated Device / Propellant Actuated Device (CAD/PAD) Digital Twin Modeling, and the development and deployment of a Nuclear-Armed Sea-Launched Cruise Missile (SLCM-N). These projects aim to enhance military capabilities by leveraging emerging technologies for air-launched electronic attack, improving aerial refueling operations for both manned and unmanned platforms, developing digital twin models for Navy Air Crew Common Ejection Seats (NACES), and deploying a nuclear-capable sea-launched cruise missile. The program's budget supports these initiatives under the Research, Development, Test & Evaluation appropriation for the Navy's Advanced Component Development & Prototypes budget activity.
