Description
POWCON the Power Conditioning and Continuation Interfacing Equipment (PCCIE) program, aims to provide centralized technical and engineering support, acquisition, fielding, and sustainment of PCCIE systems for the Air Force and Space Force. The program focuses on procuring Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems to protect sensitive electronic equipment and systems such as command and control centers, intelligence missions, and radars. With many of these systems exceeding their life expectancy, the program is structured into small and large projects, including associated ancillary equipment. Additionally, in accordance with Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act, this item is essential for use by the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities.

The FY 24 funds for the POWCON program will be used to procure new systems that collectively satisfy critical user requirements. These new systems are expected to reduce overall footprint and weight by 50-60%, lower operating and sustainment costs by 30%-50%, reduce acquisition costs related to installation due to more internal pre-wiring in newer systems, dramatically improve reliability by lowering parts count, and produce greater energy savings and higher operating efficiency in all configurations. The program's objectives include ensuring the continuation of operations in the event of power surges or failures, serving as the last line of defense for critical intelligence, satellite, radar, airfield, and computer systems.
