Budget Activity
7 - Operational system development
Description
NCMC - TW/AA System falls under Budget Activity 7 and supports the development activities for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyenne Mountain Complex (NCMC) - Integrated Tactical Warning Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) system. The program aims to provide timely, unambiguous, and continuous warning and attack assessment of air, missile, and space threats to North America and geographical theaters. It integrates and correlates missile launch and air surveillance information from certified sources to assess the nature of an enemy launch/attack and issue warnings to key decision-makers. Additionally, it supports the development of an ITW/AA Assessment Management System for planning configuration control and interoperability.
Furthermore, the program includes efforts to integrate new data sources into the Missile Warning/Missile Track Enhancement project. This involves enhancing existing displays to incorporate new sensor data with existing information, modernizing database content with additional multi-domain meta-data, and establishing a highly scalable data repository. The goal is to improve source data accuracy for missile warning missions, reduce ambiguity between missile defense and missile warning displays, and provide a seamless event-tracking and common operating picture.
In summary, the objectives of this budget line item are centered around enhancing the ITW/AA system's capabilities to provide accurate and timely warning assessments of air, missile, and space threats to key decision-makers while also integrating new data sources to improve source data accuracy for missile warning missions.
