2031A - Aircraft Procurement, Army
Description
MQ-1 UAV under the Army's Aircraft Procurement budget activity, aims to provide the Army with an Extended Range, Multi-Purpose (ERMP) Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) in Multi-Domain Operations (MDO). The specific objectives include the procurement of modernized sensors/payloads such as Electro-Optical/Infrared/Laser Designator (EO/IR/LD), Synthetic Aperture Radar/ Moving Target Indicator (SAR/MTI), Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), and HELLFIRE missiles to enhance reconnaissance, security, attack, and intelligence collection missions in Large Scale Combat Operations (LSCO). The program also focuses on acquiring Aircraft (Modernized Extended Range), Single/Multi-Band Satellite Communication Air Data Terminals, Ground Expeditionary Equipment, Universal Ground Data Terminals, Single/Multi-Band SATCOM Ground Data Terminals, and Ground Based Sense And Avoid to ensure operational readiness.
Additionally, the MQ-1C Gray Eagle system aims to achieve an Army Acquisition Objective (AAO) adjustment to bring the total requirement to 204 MQ-1C Gray Eagle aircraft. The program also includes a Congressional Add of $350.000M in FY2023 to provide operational and support equipment to the Army National Guard with an initial operating capability for Gray Eagle. These objectives align with the program's goal of enhancing the Army's capabilities in executing reconnaissance, security, attack, and intelligence collection missions in Large Scale Combat Operations (LSCO) through the procurement of advanced unmanned aircraft systems and associated equipment.
