Modeling and Simulation Support

Modeling & Simulation Support falls under the Navy Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Office (NMSO) and aims to bring organization, focus, and efficiency to the development and use of M&S throughout the Navy and DoD. It supports technical and management initiatives by providing essential planning, program management, coordination, and execution of Navy M&S efforts with other Services, the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Joint Staff, and other agencies. The program also promotes M&S community-wide services and digital ecosystems/venues to develop and implement M&S policies, standards, VV&A, collaborative digital engineering, and support discoverability/reuse across the DON, acquisition, analytics, training, and experimentation communities. Additionally, it executes experiments and prototypes focusing on the advancement of M&S capabilities and technology to increase M&S efficiency and/or effectiveness in key warfighting areas.

The specific objectives of this program include defining and coordinating corporate Navy M&S policy, M&S execution, and guidance to evolve an interoperable and reusable core M&S capability consistent with the M&S technical framework prescribed by DoD across the Future Years Defense Program (FYDP). It also aims to support subject matter expert development of M&S tools via open standards and interfaces, enterprise reference architectures, common data and track management, related enterprise sandbox technologies. Furthermore, it seeks to advance cross-system and cross-service Live/Virtual/Constructive (LVC) interoperability and interface enhancements. The program's efforts are organized around three product areas: Core Services, Community Services, and Community Experiments and Prototypes.
