Mobile Protected Firepower

Mobile Protected Firepower aims to provide the Army's Infantry Brigade Combat Teams (IBCTs) with a protected, long-range, precision direct-fire capability to ensure freedom of movement during offensive operations and defeat attacking enemies during defensive operations. The program supports the production and fielding of the Mobile Protected Firepower (MPF) system, which is essential for defeating enemy prepared positions, destroying enemy armored vehicles, and ensuring freedom of maneuver and action in close contact with the enemy. The funding also includes procurement of initial spares and special tools, systems technical support, training devices, and government program management to support LRIP Phase vehicle production, training device production, and fielding efforts. This program element is directly aligned with the Next Generation Combat Vehicle (NGCV) Modernization Priority.

The Mobile Protected Firepower program's specific objectives include procuring 33 MPF vehicles in FY 2024 for institutional training, fielding two MPF company sets to the second MPF-equipped Infantry Battalion, and facilitating an orderly production ramp-up to Full Rate Production (FRP). Additionally, the funding will support the procurement of initial spares and special tools to sustain the vehicles during fielding and ensure readiness subsequent to fielding. The program also includes systems technical support for system engineering, logistics engineering, software maintenance, and prime contractor program management. The total obligation authority for FY 2024 is $394.635 million to achieve these objectives.
