MLRS Reduced Range Practice Rockets (RRPR)

MLRS Reduced Range Practice Rockets (RRPR) under the Army's Missile Procurement aims to maintain the practice rocket inventory for Standards in Training Commission (STRC) requirements. The program ensures that the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) units can meet annual certification and pre-deployment requirements, supporting combat readiness for Active and National Guard units. The rockets are inert with a blunt nose, inducing reduced range for training purposes at various facilities in the United States and abroad. The program includes production at Lockheed Martin and Letterkenny Munitions Center, with a focus on cost-effective procurement to support ongoing capacity of the industrial base.

The specific objectives of the program include meeting the critical validated requirement for launcher units to achieve and maintain combat readiness, supporting modular Fires Brigades attached to Brigade Combat Teams, Joint Expeditionary Force, and Joint Special Operations Force combatant commanders. Additionally, the program aims to produce LCRRPRs cost-effectively at Lockheed Martin and Letterkenny Munitions Center, ensuring ongoing capacity of the industrial base. The program also includes procurement of Performance Oriented Packaging (POP) boxes, Inert Warheads, Reworked Igniters, M-26 Rocket Motor Reclamation contract, and RRPR obsolescence to support ongoing training needs.
