Budget Account
3020F - Missile Procurement, Air Force
Description
Missile Replacement Equipment-Ballistic under the Air Force's Missile Procurement budget activity, aims to fund the replacement of organizational and intermediate level support equipment for out-of-production ballistic missile systems. The equipment procured is used for missile weapon systems maintenance and testing at organizational/intermediate launch control facilities, as well as missile testing facilities. This program also addresses Diminishing Manufacturing Sources (DMS) issues and supports the sustainment of Minuteman III operations through the fielding of the Sentinel Weapons System. The specific objectives include acquiring low-cost support equipment, payload transporter replacement, performance assessment data system communication equipment interface unit (PADS CEIU), and transporter erector replacement program (TERP) to enhance ballistic missile system reliability and maintainability.
Additionally, the program aims to acquire additional operational motor carriages and missile transporter tractors and trailers to sustain Minuteman III operations through the transition to Sentinel. The funding request for FY 2024 will be used to verify technical data packages, stand up production lines, and order assets required for sustaining operations until Sentinel is fully fielded. These efforts are jointly determined by Headquarters United States Air Force (HQ USAF), Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), and Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) based on established allowance standards.
