2034A - Procurement of Ammunition, Army
Description
Mines & Clearing Charges All Types, falls under the Army's procurement of ammunition budget activity. The specific objectives of this program include the procurement of various types of mines and mine clearing charges to support critical Army Title 10 war reserve/operational, training, and test requirements. These requirements are in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction 3000.04 and Army Regulation 5-13, supporting combatant commander operational plans, homeland defense, and other OSD-directed missions. The program aims to provide the necessary equipment for individual and collective training of Active and Reserve Component forces at Army schools, home station, and combined training centers. Additionally, it supports the development, fielding, safety, and quality assurance of Army munitions and equipment throughout their life cycle.
The budget line item includes the procurement of various items such as the M18A1 Claymore Mine for defense purposes, the M88 Volcano Practice Mine for training purposes, the Anti-Personnel Obstacle Breaching System (APOBS) used by dismounted troops in combat operations to clear a lane through wire obstacles and anti-personnel mines, the M58A4 Linear Demolition Charge (MICLIC) deployed by rocket to clear minefields, as well as related inert training ammunition and rocket motors. The program aims to ensure that these items are procured to meet annual training needs and build war reserve inventories in accordance with the Army's procurement goals.
