Description
The LCS Mission Modules program under the Navy's Research, Development, Test & Evaluation budget activity, aims to provide funds for the detailed design, development, issue resolution, certification, integration, and testing of the LCS Mission Modules. The program's specific objectives include employing an incremental development approach to deliver capability, allowing for the insertion of mature capabilities throughout the program's life without modifications to the seaframes. The program focuses on developing mission packages for Mine Countermeasures (MCM), Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), and Surface Warfare (SUW) to enhance the Littoral Combat Ship's capabilities in defeating asymmetric threats and ensuring naval access into contested littoral regions. Additionally, the program aims to develop common hardware interfaces and communication systems to support all mission packages.

The Mine Countermeasure (MCM) Mission Package within the LCS Mission Modules program aims to counter bottom, tethered, near surface, and surface mines in littoral regions without putting sailors in the minefield. Specific goals for FY24 include conducting Cyber Security testing of the MCM Mission Package, developing MCM MPAS 4.0 software, modifying the MCM MP to commence integration of Barracuda, and developing the Near Surface Neutralization Module (NSN) and TBEC design upgrades. The program also focuses on improving usability and effectiveness of Integrated Contact Management and supporting fleet experimentation with Beyond Line Of Sight (BLOS) and other MCM capabilities with Unmanned Systems. Additionally, it plans to certify the MCM MP for deployment and integrate Common Control Station (CCS) into MCM MPAS 4.0 in FY24. These efforts align with the broader objectives of enhancing mine countermeasure capabilities and ensuring operational readiness for littoral combat scenarios.
