LCAC SLEP

LCAC SLEP managed by the Navy, aims to extend the service life of Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) beyond the original twenty years. The program includes the LCAC Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) and the LCAC Extended Service Life Extension Program (ESLEP). The specific objectives of the SLEP program involve upgrading from TF40B engines to ETF40B engines, repairing corrosion damage, replacing obsolete electronics, upgrading C4N suite, and replacing the deep skirt. On the other hand, the ESLEP program focuses on repairing corrosion damage, replacing obsolete electronics, upgrading C4N including cyber hardening, and replacing the deep skirt. The program's goal is to ensure that these craft can continue to transport weapon systems, equipment, cargo, and personnel of the assault elements of the Marine Air/Ground Task Force from ship to shore and across the beach effectively.

The LCAC SLEP program is designed to cost-effectively gain more service life out of existing LCAC SLEP craft. The Navy's specific goals for this program include completing modifications and enhancements to extend the service life of these crafts. This involves addressing corrosion damage, replacing obsolete electronics, upgrading C4N including cyber hardening, and replacing the deep skirt. Additionally, the program aims to reduce costs by incorporating cost-effective measures to extend the service life of existing crafts. The completion of these objectives will ensure that the LCACs can continue to fulfill their role in transporting weapon systems, equipment, cargo, and personnel for Marine Air/Ground Task Force operations effectively.
