Joint Tactical Network Center (JTNC)

The Joint Tactical Network Center (JTNC) is a collaborative effort between the Air Force, Army, and Navy to enable the Department of Defense's rapid identification, characterization, procurement, fielding, and sustainment of modular, innovative tactical communications products. The JTNC aims to ensure secure, interoperable, and resilient Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities. Its specific objectives include maintaining a cyber-hardened DoD Information Repository (IR), providing technical analyses and capability characterizations on tactical communications products, developing Open Systems Architecture Standards, conducting exportability analysis and licensing reviews, and serving as a technical advisor to key government stakeholders such as the Communications, Command, and Control Leadership Board (C3LB) and Tactical Communications Senior Steering Group (TCSSG).

The JTNC's mission is executed in coordination with various government stakeholders to eliminate duplicative capability and ensure collaborative interagency work. Its ultimate goal is to expedite market research activities by collecting, analyzing, and making data available in support of emerging Government waveform acquisitions. Additionally, the program aims to resolve interoperability issues and facilitate next-generation HF systems through its engagement in the High-Frequency Interoperability and Architecture Sub-Working Group (HF I&A SWG). The JTNC also participates in standards-related activities and collaborates with industry partners to capture information on resilient waveform technologies and portfolio products. Overall, the program's objectives align with its role in Budget Activity 5: System Development & Demonstration (SDD) as it conducts engineering and manufacturing development tasks aimed at meeting validated requirements prior to full-rate production.
