Description
The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) is a multi-service tactical vehicle replacement for the HMMWV, chosen by the Department of Defense (DOD) for the USMC, Army, Navy, and Air Force. The program aims to provide major operational improvements in force protection, payload, mobility, fuel efficiency, and reliability. The specific objectives include acquiring JLTVs through the Army Joint Program Office (JPO) contract and purchasing 2,093 JLTVs with three different vehicle variants and a companion trailer. The program also involves acquiring Contractor Furnished Equipment (CFE) Kits, Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), Field Service Representative (FSR) support, and Work Directives to ensure compatibility and operability based on user requirements.
The JLTV program also includes the procurement of Expansion Kits and Overhead Equipment to enable installation of Mission Specific Equipment beyond the Contractor furnished Base Vehicle Platform Infrastructure. Additionally, it involves providing support for de-processing and Operator and Maintainer Training through OEM and/or contractor FSR support upon delivery of vehicles to user locations. The program's goals are aligned with homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities as required by title 10 U.S.C. Chapter 9A, Sec 240-D Audits: audit of financial statements of Department of Defense components by independent external auditors and Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110-181).
