Description
Industrial Security Activities managed by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency, aims to deter, detect, and disrupt unauthorized technology transfer activities of adversaries. The Critical Technology Protection Integration Cell (CTPIC) serves as the Department of Defense's focal point for assessments, coordination, and operational information sharing related to critical technology protection. The funding supports data access and analysis tools for prioritizing limited resources and engaging targeted threat information. Additionally, the Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS) program management office oversees the University Affiliated Research Center (UARC) to provide strategic research and development to solve intelligence and security problems. RDT&E funding is used for strategic research efforts that broadly benefit the Defense Security Enterprise (DSE) and develop capability and capacity at ARLIS that work sponsors can build on.
The specific objectives of this budget line item include maintaining access to critical data sources, developing existing tools to deliver targeted threat information in a usable format for stakeholders, centralizing critical technology protection information and analysis activities, supporting industrial security research, and increasing efficiency and innovation for cleared defense contractors working on critical classified projects. The funding also enables the development of capability and capacity at ARLIS that work sponsors across the DSE can build on, optimizing research and innovation efforts. Additionally, it supports the Research for Intelligence and Security Internship Program to increase diversity in intelligence and security career fields and develop a future workforce with the skills needed to face technical challenges.
