HIMARS Modifications

The HIMARS Modifications program aims to address safety, operational-related, chassis, Fire Control System, and Command, Control, Communications, Computer, and Intelligence (C4I) obsolescence issues within the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) fleet. This includes updating the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicle carrier and the Launcher-Loader Module drawing packages and Technical Data Packages through the prime contractor and the government product office. The program also focuses on modernizing the board layout from antiquated through-hole design to surface mount technology for continued production of CFCS. Additionally, it procures system-specific training devices required to support the HIMARS Vehicle and Maintainer training courses.

The program's objectives include fielding the Common Fire Control System (CFCS) to the HIMARS Launcher fleet to provide the capability to launch all current and future Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Family of Munitions (MFOM) and reduce training costs and operations and maintenance costs. Furthermore, it aims to provide anti-jam capability to UFCS-equipped launchers and CFCS-equipped launchers through an Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (APNT) update. This update integrates BAE's Digital GPS Anti-Jam (AJ) Receiver (DIGAR) and a seven-element Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna (CRPA), protecting fielded HIMARS launchers from GPS jamming.
