Guided MLRS Rocket (GMLRS)

Guided MLRS Rocket (GMLRS) aims to procure and support the production of long lead items for GMLRS rockets in FY 2025. The program is under the Missile Procurement, Army budget activity and is essential for use by the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities. The GMLRS rockets are surface-to-surface artillery rockets fired from the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launchers, providing 24/7, all-weather precision fires to engage both area and point targets at short, medium, and long ranges. The U.S. Marine Corps also procures GMLRS rockets through the Army project office.

The specific objective of Program Guided MLRS Rocket (GMLRS) is to secure funding for the procurement of long lead items necessary for the production of GMLRS rockets in FY 2025. This includes acquiring CFE IMPS Motor LL Items, Guidance Set LL Items, Payload Electronics LL Items, and Control Actuation System LL Items. The program's goal is to ensure that the production leadtime is supported by obtaining these long lead items in advance. Additionally, the program aims to meet the needs of homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and military support to civil authorities as mandated by Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110-181).
