Description
GPS III Follow-On (GPS IIIF) is aimed at advancing the Global Positioning System (GPS) to meet validated Joint Service requirements for worldwide, accurate, common grid three-dimensional positioning/navigation for military aircraft, ships, and ground personnel. The program focuses on delivering improved satellites beyond the initial GPS III Space Vehicles (SVs) by funding the Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) of GPS IIIF SVs 11-12. Additionally, it supports the GPS Enterprise Integration (EI) project to ensure integration of multiple prime contracts across the three GPS enterprise segments and transition to sustainment and operational communities. The program aims to maintain the current GPS architecture and system definition, ensure compatibility across current Generation II and III systems, and develop plans for execution and fielding of new capabilities like the new M-Code for use at the earliest opportunity.
The specific objectives of Program PE 1203269SF include delivering improved satellites beyond the initial GPS III Space Vehicles (SVs) by funding the RDT&E of GPS IIIF SVs 11-12. This includes risk-reducing simulators and systems engineering associated with delivering the new capabilities required of GPS IIIF satellites. Furthermore, it supports critical efforts associated with integrating multiple prime contracts across the three GPS enterprise segments through the GPS Enterprise Integration (EI) project. This involves maintaining the current GPS architecture and system definition, ensuring compatibility across current Generation II and III systems, developing plans for execution and fielding of new capabilities like the new M-Code, and providing modeling, simulation, technical analyses of impacts for Government-directed enterprise-level trades among the GPS segments.
