1 - SPACE PROCUREMENT, SF
Description
GPSSPC Global Positioning (Space), falls under the Air Force's procurement activities for Space Programs. The specific goal of this program is to provide highly accurate time, three-dimensional position, and velocity information to an unlimited number of users anywhere on or above the surface of the earth, in any weather. This supports validated Joint Service requirements for worldwide, accurate, common grid navigation for military aircraft, ships, ground vehicles, and personnel. The program encompasses three segments: satellites, ground control, and user equipment. The budget allocation supports various GPS-specific production efforts associated with the ground control and user equipment segments, including funding for the Key Data Loading Installation Facility (KLIF) and GPS Security Device to ensure system resiliency and situational awareness necessary to operate in the contested space domain.
The Navstar Global Positioning System (GPS) program aims to provide highly accurate time, three-dimensional position, and velocity information to military platforms worldwide. This supports validated Joint Service requirements for accurate common grid navigation for military aircraft, ships, ground vehicles, and personnel. The program is comprised of three segments: satellites, ground control, and user equipment. The budget allocation specifically supports various GPS-specific production efforts associated with the ground control and user equipment segments. Additionally, it provides funding for the Key Data Loading Installation Facility (KLIF) and GPS Security Device to ensure system resiliency and situational awareness necessary to operate in the contested space domain. This includes programming black key algorithms into the Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM) to provide accurate positioning solutions for GPS users using secure equipment.
