Description
General Purpose Trucks is a procurement program under the Navy's Other Procurement budget activity, specifically focusing on Civil Engineering Support Equipment. The program aims to procure various sizes of cargo pickup/stake trucks, maintenance utility vans/trucks, and panel/cargo vans/trucks of commercial design. These vehicles are essential for transporting Naval Special Warfare (NSW) SEALs and Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC), combat enablers, and combat service support personnel for small unit training in diverse operating environments such as desert, mountain, and beach terrains. The program directly supports Maritime Special Operations Training across 21 NSW operational commands, staff headquarters, and training schools. Additionally, the trucks provide direct support to SEAL, Special Boat, and Combat Support Teams conducting training for high-risk deployments.
The primary objective of Program 6007 is to ensure the availability of reliable and efficient transportation for personnel, equipment, and training gear necessary for small unit training in various operating environments. The procurement of general purpose trucks directly supports the mobility requirements of Naval Special Warfare (NSW) SEALs and Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC) during training exercises in diverse terrains. The program also aims to enhance the logistical capabilities of NSW operational commands by providing vehicles that can effectively transport small arms weapons, dive gear, parachutes, special operations support gear, and personnel. Furthermore, the program seeks to ensure that the vehicles acquired meet specific operational requirements and are compatible with the training needs of NSW units across different locations.
