GATM Rollup

GATM Rollup under the Army's Aircraft Procurement budget activity, aims to meet the equipment, training, and procedural requirements mandated by Civilian Air Traffic Control authorities in order to operate within 21st-century airspace. The program is driven by civil aviation authorities and aims to upgrade and procure the Common Transponder (CXP) for rotary wing and Unmanned Aircraft System fleets. This initiative will provide Army aircraft with improved capabilities to operate in civil controlled airspace and comply with European airspace mandates. The GATM program includes various systems such as Alt Comms and Multi-Mode Aviation Radio Set programs, the Embedded GPS Inertial Navigation Systems, and aircraft Flight Management Systems.

The specific objectives of Program GATM Rollup include enhancing security and performance through Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Mode 5, improving compatibility with civil Air Traffic Control, meeting emerging security requirements, and allowing for operations in worldwide civil controlled airspace. Additionally, the program aims to ensure that Army aircraft can continue to operate in European controlled airspace by meeting the necessary GATM upgrades. The funding for this program supports the procurement of new systems and the upgrading of existing avionics to meet global GATM requirements for rotary wing and Unmanned Aircraft System fleets.
