Description
The Family of Diver Support Equipment program aims to provide essential support for high-risk diving missions and long-term sustained underwater construction operations. This includes the procurement and modernization of critical equipment such as the Containerized Diver Recompression Chamber (CDRC), Deep Sea Set (DSS), and Underwater Construction Set (UCS). The CDRC, for instance, is designed to support training, surface decompression, and life-saving recompression treatment operations for Army Engineer Divers. The program also supports various diving operations such as Joint Logistics Over the Shore (JLOTS), Port Opening for (SPODS), Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA), and underwater construction activities.
The specific objectives of this program include ensuring the availability and modernization of essential diving equipment to maintain mission readiness for Army Engineer Divers. The modernization efforts, such as the modification of the Diver Recompression Chamber systems, aim to extend the life of critical equipment and enhance its capabilities to support diving missions for an additional 20 years. Additionally, the program aligns with homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and military support to civil authorities as mandated by Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110-181). Overall, the program's focus is on providing reliable and effective support for diving operations and underwater construction activities in various operational scenarios.
