Description
ATA000 the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program, aims to enhance and field a family of aircraft that meets the needs of the Department of Defense (DoD) and its allies. The program includes three air vehicle variants: the F-35A Conventional Take Off and Landing (CTOL) variant, the F-35B Short Take-Off and Vertical Landing (STOVL) variant, and the F-35C Carrier Variant (CV). The commonality among these variants is expected to reduce life cycle costs. The program's specific objectives include providing increased aero-performance, stealth signature, countermeasures, advanced avionics, data links, adverse weather precision targeting, increased range with internal fuel, and superior weaponry over existing aircraft. The F-35 program also aims to be highly supportable, affordable, and state-of-the-art while commanding and maintaining global air superiority.

The FY2024 Advance Procurement (AP) funding for the F-35 program will support Airframe and Engine long-lead parts and materials necessary to protect the delivery schedules of the FY2025 production, as well as associated termination liability. This funding is crucial for ensuring that the end items for which the long lead items will be used to produce are fully funded in the FY2025 budget. The AP funding will be used towards specific Air Vehicle suppliers/systems such as TR-3 Components, Bulkhead forgings, Collins Landing Gear, BAE Electronic Warfare components, IAI Outer Wing Box, BAE Aft Fuselage components, Northrop Grumman Center Fuselage components, ATK Wing Skins, Curtiss-Wright Controls Leading Edge Flap Drive System (LEFDS), Ball Aerospace CNI Integrated Body Apertures, Heroux-Devtek Flight Opening Door Uplock System (FODUS), Fokker Flaperons, Arkwin Industries Actuators, and Leonardo Wing. Additionally, Advance Acquisition Contracts (AAC) will be awarded for long-lead items on a termination liability basis to protect delivery schedules for Engine Hardware and Collins Inlet Debris Monitor Signal Conditioning Units (IDMS SCUs).
