Description
Electronic Warfare Development is a critical component of the Army's modernization priorities, specifically in support of Electronic Warfare Planning and Management Tool (EWPMT) program. This program element encompasses engineering and manufacturing development for tactical Electronic Warfare (EW) and the Integrated Electronic Warfare System (IEWS). The goal is to provide a capability set that integrates electronic attack, protect, and support functions to improve the ability to seize, retain, and exploit an advantage within the electromagnetic spectrum (EMS). The program lines of effort include Project DX5 for Electronic Warfare Planning and Management Tool (EWPMT), Project DX6 for Multi-Function EW (MFEW), and Project VS6 for Integrated Electronic Warfare Systems.
Project DX5 focuses on supporting the EWPMT, which is a key enabler of Army Modernization Priorities. It provides the ability to remotely control and manage Electronic Warfare assets in order to execute offensive and defensive Electronic Attack, EW targeting, and synchronize EW and Spectrum Management Operations across Intelligence, Operations, and Signals in support of Multi-Domain Operations. Project DX6 - MFEW-AL provides tactical Commanders with deep look, organic, airborne, offensive electronic warfare capabilities. It empowers Commanders to shape the Electromagnetic Spectrum to their advantage by providing Offensive Electronic Attack (OEA), Electronic Warfare Support (ES), Dissemination of Military Information Support Operations (MISO) products, and support of Offensive Cyber Operations (OCO) and Multi-Domain Operations. Project VS6 focuses on Counter Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device (RCIED) Electronic Warfare (CREW) to protect ground forces operating in operational theaters.
The specific objectives include capability maturation, performance improvements, system hardening, sensor integration, fielding activities, experimentation support, frequent delivery of critical EW planning and management capabilities in response to changing threats, technology advancements, and techniques in support of Multi-Domain Operations.
Overall, the program aims to enhance the Army's electronic warfare capabilities by developing advanced tools and systems that enable effective planning, management, and execution of electronic warfare operations in diverse operational environments.
