CTG, Handgun, All Types

The CTG Handgun, All Types program aims to procure various types of handgun ammunition for the Army. This includes the CTG, 9mm Ball M882 (Combat Pack) cartridge, which is used for training and combat purposes and complies with NATO Standard Agreement (STANAG) 4090. Additionally, the program includes the procurement of Modular Handgun System (MHS) ammunition for the M17 and M18 pistols, consisting of four new 9MM cartridges - Ball M1152, Special Purpose M1153, Drill Dummy Inert (DDI) M1156, and Blank XM1157. These cartridges are intended for use against enemy personnel, training, and force protection. The program also involves the procurement of 9mm Marking cartridges in blue and red for force-on-force training engagements using existing M9/M11/MHS pistols and M4 rifles with specific conversion kits.

The specific objectives of this budget line item include supporting critical Army Title 10 war reserve/operational, training, and test requirements in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) Instruction 3000.04 and Army Regulation (AR) 5-13. The procurement goals aim to support annual training, build war reserve inventories, and meet Combatant Commander Operational Plans, Homeland Defense, and other OSD-directed missions. The budget request for FY 2024 supports the procurement of millions of cartridges across different types to meet these objectives.
