Computer Ballistics: LHMBC XM32

The specific goal of this program is to procure 66 Lightweight Handheld Mortar Ballistic Computer (LHMBC) M32A2 systems for the Army in FY 2024. These systems are designed to calculate ballistic solutions for 60mm, 81mm, and 120mm mortar weapon systems, providing accurate firing computations and digital messaging capability. The LHMBC aims to improve the accuracy of mortar ballistic calculation, increase the survivability of mortar crews, and eliminate the need for paper firing tables. Additionally, the program seeks to modernize mounted and dismounted mortar weapon systems and fire control systems by addressing obsolescence and ensuring compatibility with current and future Army platforms, weapon systems, and fire control systems/subsystems.

The objective of this procurement is to provide the Army with advanced Lightweight Handheld Mortar Ballistic Computer (LHMBC) M32A2 systems that will enhance the accuracy and efficiency of mortar weapon systems. By integrating common software (SW) design and architecture, the program aims to reduce reliance on unique hardware and operating system configurations. The LHMBC M32A2 will be compatible with the latest Common Operating Environment (COE) compliance and will utilize the Net Warrior (NW) Mobile/Handheld End User Device (EUD) or an improved Ruggedized Tactical Handheld Device (RTHD) platform. The procurement also includes hardware (HW) and software (SW) requirements as well as Basic Issue Items (BII), ensuring seamless integration with current and future Army platforms, weapon systems, and fire control systems/subsystems.
