Description
Civilian Compensation Program for the Air Force aims to provide compensation benefits for civilian employees who sustain work-related injuries or occupational diseases while performing their duties. Administered by the Department of Labor (DOL), this program is a mandatory expense for the Air Force, excluding manpower authorizations and costs. The budget supports the payment of civilian compensation benefits under the Federal Employees Compensation Act (FECA) and may also cover necessary civilian pay expenses required to manage, execute, and deliver weapon system capability. The planned programs include continuing to provide compensation to employees assigned to research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) facilities for work-related injuries or occupational diseases, as well as implementing services to expedite employees' return to work.

The Civilian Compensation Program's specific objective is to ensure that employees assigned to RDT&E facilities receive appropriate compensation for work-related injuries or occupational diseases in accordance with the Federal Employees Compensation Act (FECA). The program also aims to implement services that facilitate the timely return of employees back to work. The budget allocation supports these objectives by covering the costs associated with civilian compensation benefits and necessary civilian pay expenses required for managing, executing, and delivering weapon system capability within RDT&E facilities. The decrease in funding from FY 2023 to FY 2024 is attributed to decreased requirements, reflecting adjustments in line with program needs.
