3011F - Procurement of Ammunition, Air Force
Description
Cartridges is a procurement program under the Air Force's budget activity for ammunition. The specific goal of this program is to procure various types of cartridges, including impulse cartridges, medium caliber ammo, and small caliber/ground munitions. The procurement is aimed at maintaining appropriate quantities in the War Reserve Materiel (WRM) Munitions and test and training stockpiles to support active, Guard, and Reserve components. The program also aims to address critical shortfalls to inventory objectives and actual/planned expenditures during the execution year. Additionally, the funding may be used to evaluate commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) or government off-the-shelf (GOTS) products as suitable replacements or enhancements to current capabilities.
The objectives of Program 352010 - Cartridges include fulfilling WRM requirements for various types of ammunition, such as 20mm and 30mm rounds, to support pilot training, combat operations, and replenishment of stockpiles. The program also seeks to address critical shortfalls in inventory objectives and ensure appropriate quantities are maintained in the War Reserve Materiel (WRM) Munitions and test and training stockpiles. Furthermore, the funding may be used to procure inventoried items required on an emerging basis and address Diminishing Manufacturing Sources (DMS) issues. Additionally, the program aims to support homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and provide military support to civil authorities as necessary.
