Description
Cap Vehicles supports the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) in providing rapid deployment of emergency essential ground teams capable of delivering critical communications and humanitarian support during national emergencies and disasters. The program's procurement processes adhere to Department of Defense Grant & Agreement Regulations, and the funding in FY24 will be used to procure vehicles, as well as support Cadet and Aerospace Education programs that encourage private citizens' voluntary contribution to public welfare. The vehicles acquired enable CAP to provide transportation for over 24,000 cadets, supporting the execution of Aerospace Education and Cadet Program missions as directed by 36 U.S.C Section 403, 10 U.S.C. Section 9442.
The vehicles procured through Program 822910 - Cap Vehicles are essential for the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) to fulfill its mission of providing assistance during emergency or non-emergency public purpose missions and activities as requested by the Department of Defense, federal, state, or local government authorities, and non-governmental organizations. These vehicles play a crucial role in supporting 90% of the Air Force's search and rescue (SAR) missions in accordance with the National SAR Plan and disaster relief activities. Additionally, they facilitate the transportation needs of CAP cadets to execute Aerospace Education and Cadet Program missions as directed by relevant statutes. The program's funding in FY24 will be utilized for vehicle procurement, ensuring CAP's ability to respond effectively to national emergencies and disasters while also promoting voluntary citizen contributions to public welfare.
