BIOMETRIC TACTICAL COLLECTION DEVICES

BIOMETRIC TACTICAL COLLECTION DEVICES led by the Army, aims to enhance the Army's biometric collection capability through the Next Generation Biometric Collection Capability (NXGBCC). This initiative involves the procurement of biometric tactical collection devices that will enable the collection, matching, storage, sharing, and analysis of biometric, biographical, and contextual data through various modalities such as fingerprint, iris, voice, and facial recognition. The goal is to provide Commanders at all levels with enhanced situational awareness and analysis capabilities within 60 seconds. The program supports Force Protection and Military Intelligence activities by enabling the identification of combatants, managing prisoners of war, civilian detainees, displaced persons, and refugees during Large Scale Combat Operations.

The specific objectives of the program include leveraging cloud services and near real-time enterprise data synchronization to integrate future technology and architecture with the latest commercial solutions. This will enable the Army to exploit biometrics for preparatory intelligence activities to counter unconventional and conventional threats in Joint All Domain Operations. The procurement of 75 devices in FY 2024 with a budget allocation of $0.932 million supports this objective by providing the necessary equipment for biometric data collection and analysis.
