Battlespace Knowledge Development and Demonstration

Battlespace Knowledge Development and Demonstration is a research and development initiative within the Air Force aimed at developing enterprise-centric information technologies for the warfighter. The program encompasses projects such as C4I Battlespace Dev and Demo, which focuses on enabling the Air Force to monitor, assess, plan, and execute missions rapidly across the full spectrum of operations at all levels of war and during all phases of conflict. Additionally, the Cyber Battlespace Dev & Demo project aims to develop cyber-attack capabilities, cyber defense capabilities, and cyber support capabilities. These efforts align with the National Defense Strategy and Air Force Future Operating Concept to enable operational agility through multi-domain command and control (MDC2) capabilities.

The specific goals of this program include developing advanced, secure, net-enabled architectures and communications/network technologies in support of persistent, global, and survivable kinetic and non-kinetic military operations. This involves processing and exploiting data and information from various sources to create a common operating picture of the battlespace. The program also aims to provide decision makers with seamless access to tailored information within a mobile, dynamic, and scalable Air Operations Center. Furthermore, the program seeks to advance technologies in support of operational agility through multi-domain command and control capabilities. These objectives are aligned with the Department of Defense Science and Technology Executive Committee process to harmonize efforts and eliminate duplication in research and development initiatives.
