Aviation - Adv Dev

Aviation - Adv Dev aligns with the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) Army modernization priority and aims to develop a family of vertical lift aircraft for the United States Armed Forces. The program directly supports the Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) Capability Set Three weapon system within the FVL family of systems. FLRAA will conduct various operations including air assault, urban assault/security, maritime interdiction, medical evacuation, humanitarian assistance/disaster relief, tactical resupply, direct action, noncombatant evacuation operation, and combat search and rescue operations. The program's objectives include increasing vertical lift maneuverability, range, speed, payload, survivability, and reliability while reducing the logistics footprint to provide critical vertical lift aviation capability in multi-domain operations to the joint warfighter and maneuver force.

The program's funding also supports engineering research, planning, modeling, and analysis to execute subsystem risk reduction efforts through the FLRAA Weapon System Development (WSD) contract. It aims to continue maturation of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) competencies and infrastructure and develop a digital backbone architected to meet Modular Open System Approach (MOSA) objectives. Additionally, the program focuses on managing the rigorous execution of programmatic, technical, logistics, business and administrative requirements to execute the scope of the FLRAA Engineering and Manufacturing Development acquisition phase. These efforts are crucial in achieving Milestone B Decision and supporting the completion and coordination of a FLRAA Milestone B decision.
