Description
Acquisition Workforce- Nuclear Systems directly funds the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) and Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) nuclear acquisition workforce. The program aims to equip U.S. forces with operational nuclear weapon systems in support of military and national security operations. It supports the acquisition and product support workforce in providing cutting-edge weapon systems, sustainment capabilities, and management tools necessary to oversee Nuclear Systems acquisition programs throughout their life cycle. The funding is intended to support all phases of acquisition programs, including material solution analysis, technology development, engineering and manufacturing development, production and deployment, and operations and support.
The program's objectives include providing resources for non-pay AFNWC HQ Management Support to ensure continuous cutting-edge nuclear weapon systems, sustainment capabilities, and management tools needed to oversee Nuclear Weapons acquisition programs throughout their life cycle. This includes day-to-day operations support for AFNWC HQ Staff such as IT support, A&AS contract support, travel, supplies, temporary duty travel, operations and material support contract costs for nuclear system engineering and maintenance. The program also aims to address inflationary growth of costs within the AFNWC HQ Staff Portfolio. Overall, the program seeks to enhance the capabilities of the nuclear acquisition workforce to meet the demands of the nuclear enterprise recapitalization and sustainment efforts while ensuring transparency in execution for congressional oversight.
