Objective
1. Elevate youth and gang violence as an issue of national significance; 2.Enhance the capacity of participating localities, as well as others across the country, to more effectively prevent youth and gang violence; and, 3. Promote systems and policy change by expanding engagement, collaboration, and coordination in addressing youth violence at the national, state, and local levels.
The initiative had the following objectives:
Support communities to establish, strengthen and sustain partnerships between law enforcement and outreach workers, clergy, community leaders and family members in efforts to deter young people from committing violence, particularly shootings and killings.
Prevent and reduce youth violence by providing assistance to localities participating in the Forum to address youth violence, and increasing the number of communities participating.
