Objective
To provide Federal financial assistance to State, local and tribal governments, other public entities, educational institutions, and private nonprofit organizations to identify, evaluate, interpret, and protect historic battlefields and sites associated with armed conflicts on American soil through non-acquisition projects and activities.
The ABPP consists of three grant programs, including the Battlefield Interpretation Modernization Grants; Battlefield Restoration Grants; Battlefield Preservation Planning Grants

public institutions of higher education and hospitals), Local (includes State-designated lndian Tribes: excludes institutions of higher education and hospitals), Public nonprofit institution/organizations (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals), Federally
Recognized lndian Tribal Governments, U.S. Territories and possessions (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals), Private nonprofit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals), Native American Organizations (includes lndian groups, cooperatives, corporations, partnerships, associations)
State and local governments and agencies; public and State controlled institutions of higher education, private institutions of higher education; nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education; Federally recognized Native American tribal governments; Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments); and Native Hawaiian organizations including any organization that serves and represents the interests of Native Hawaiians, has as a primary and stated purpose the provision of services to Native Hawaiians, and has expertise in Native Hawaiian affairs. Multi-organizational applications are encouraged.
