L71_2024 Culvert Replacement Over Roaring Run

Background
The Commonwealth of Virginia, through the Department of Transportation (VDOT), is undertaking the L71_2024 Culvert Replacement project over Roaring Run in Botetourt County. The project aims to replace an existing structurally deficient culvert on Route 621, classified as a Rural Collector with an average daily traffic of approximately 560 vehicles.

This initiative aligns with VDOT's mission to maintain and improve transportation infrastructure across the state.

Work Details
The primary work involves replacing the existing culvert with a new concrete box culvert measuring 10' x 8' over a length of 82 feet. The project includes grading, temporary signalization, and various construction activities such as excavation, installation of erosion control measures, and restoration of disturbed areas.

Specific items to be provided include:
- Precast Box Culvert (Double 10' x 8') - 82 LF
- Mobilization - 1 LS
- Grading - 1 LS
- Temporary Signalization - 1 LS
- Temporary Shoring - 1 LS
- Driveway Assistance Device (DAD) - 270 Days
- Minor Structure Excavation for Box Culvert - 1605 CY
- Bedding Material Aggregate No. 25 or 26 - 57 Tons
- Erosion Control Stone Class II - 302 Tons
- Asphalt Concrete (various types) totaling approximately 142 Tons.

Additionally, strict erosion and sediment control measures will be enforced throughout the project duration.

Period of Performance
The contract work is scheduled to commence on May 1, 2025, and is expected to be completed by August 1, 2025.

Place of Performance
The project will take place along Route 621 in Botetourt County, Virginia.
