IFB#160429 - Fire Protection Services

Background
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia, is seeking bids from qualified firms to establish a time and materials contract for fire protection services. This contract aims to provide necessary repairs, installations, and inspections for fire alarm systems, halon systems, and sprinkler systems located at various VDOT complexes in the Staunton District.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for providing all supervision, labor, materials, equipment, maintenance, and repair services needed for fire protection. Specific tasks include:

1. Annual inspections for fire alarms and quarterly/semi-annual inspections for sprinkler systems.
2. Semi-annual halon system inspections.
3. Preventive maintenance (PM) and monitoring services for fire alarm systems.
4. Repairs and installations as needed for fire alarm systems, halon systems, and sprinkler systems at the following locations:
- VDOT Staunton District Complex: 811 Commerce Road, Staunton VA 24401
- VDOT Harrisonburg Residency Complex: 3526 North Valley Pike, Harrisonburg VA 22802
- VDOT Verona Sub-Residency: 184 Laurel Hill Road, Verona VA 24482
5. Compliance with National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) codes and other applicable regulations.
6. Submission of service reports detailing inspections conducted and any deficiencies found.

Period of Performance
The contract will be effective for one year from the date of award with potential renewals.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various locations within the Staunton District of Virginia.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must submit a Small Business Subcontracting Plan if not certified as a small business by the Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity by the bid closing date. The contractor must possess a Class A Virginia Contractors License and have documented experience servicing similar systems.
